Committees

The Flint & Genesee Chamber has formed committees dedicated to enhancing our business community. Participation in these groups offers a valuable opportunity to connect with others, showcase your skills, and contribute your expertise, fostering both personal and community growth.

African American Advisory Committee (AAAC)

The African American Advisory Committee (AAAC) serves as the liaison between the region’s growing African American business community and the Flint & Genesee Chamber. AAAC members partner with the Chamber to support the advancement and development of African American businesses and professionals. Collectively, we are committed to identifying vital resources for business owners, supporting economic development, and fostering strong community partnerships.

The goal of the AAAC is to collaborate and support the Chamber with ideas and initiatives that foster the development and growth of underrepresented business enterprises such as African American-owned businesses.

The AAAC meets 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on the fourth Friday of the month at different local businesses, unless a special event is taking place that month. Visit the Events Calendar for details and to register.

For more information contact Andrew Younger, Executive Director of Flint & Genesee Chamber, at ayounger@flintandgenesee.org or email aaac@flintandgenesee.org.

Chamber Ambassadors

The Flint & Genesee Chamber Ambassador’s mission is to act as a liaison to the Chamber by facilitating the cultivation and retention of current and new members. Becoming a Chamber Ambassador is a great opportunity to network and better promote your business.

Ambassadors support the Chamber in a variety of ways – from participating in our monthly luncheon event to our casual After Hours Wine Down. Ambassadors meet monthly and help welcome new Chamber members. Ambassadors work with new and current members to understand the website, how to register for events and how to take advantage of the Chamber network and grow their business.

Disability Works

The goal of this committee is to serve businesses and residents of Genesee County as a primary resource of information pertaining to the employment, training or accommodations for people with disabilities. We confidentially address the needs and concerns of business owners so that a diverse, inclusive workforce will grow while providing resources for accessible products, services, and benefits.

The Disability Works Committee includes organizations and community leaders that care about individuals with physical or mental challenges yet are capable of becoming the next “best employee you ever hired.” We believe everyone who lives in Genesee County deserves an opportunity to earn a living and contribute to the growth of our community.

For more information contact Andrew Younger, Executive Director of Flint & Genesee Chamber, at ayounger@flintandgenesee.org

Flint & Genesee Young Professionals

The Flint & Genesee Young Professionals (FGYP) committee encourages and supports young professionals through placemaking, building personal and professional networks, community involvement, and fostering educational opportunities with the ultimate objective of attracting and retaining talent in Genesee County.

The committee works to connect young professionals in Flint & Genesee through social events, networking opportunities, and continuing education.

Sales Lead Roundtable

The Flint & Genesee Chamber Sales Leads Roundtable is a dynamic group of non-competing business professionals that meet on a regular basis to provide business leads and opportunities to their teammates. Membership to this committee is limited to one representative per industry and business must be Chamber members in good standing. Roundtable members meet monthly.

Women’s Leadership Committee

The Committee provides mentoring and network strengthening and through these endeavors provide recognition and opportunities for women to reach their leadership and business growth potential. The WLC also collaborates with other area women’s organizations to sponsor programs of value to women.

The group focuses on three main priorities:

  1. Networking within the group & supporting each other as women
  2. Education/training – bringing in guest speakers to provide training & information on topics of importance to women
  3. Community service/charity – providing opportunities to give back to the community & area non-profits through quarterly projects or drives
